Once that process is complete, I'd like to pull the old IDE drive out (never to be connected again), and replace it with the newly cloned Sata drive. Once connected, I'll clone the entire contents of the IDE drive (OS, Software.etc), over to the new Sata drive (I read that the cloned drive will be bootable (?). This is going to allow me to connect the new internal 2TB Sata drive, to my PC via a rear USB port on the computer. I plan on buying a USB 2.0 to IDE/Sata Adapter cable kit. IN A PERFECT WORLD (according to my plan/process): Here's the methodology for what I'd like to try to do. To replace my old 30 GB IDE drive, with a new 2TB Seagate Sata Drive. Let me state up front that I'm trying to accomplish my task using the simplest means possible. Along the way, I've encountered many conflicting statements, but through continued research, I believe I've sorted some/most of the discrepancies. I've been reading forums and threads regarding the installation of a Sata drive in Dell Dimension 4600. I'm new to the forum, and can sure use some guidance before I "hose" things up.
